New Mexico State University is moving forward with a national search to find a new Vice Provost for Digital Learning Initiatives.

NMSU Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Carol Parker recently announced that Luis Cifuentes, dean of the NMSU Graduate School, will chair a committee to assist with identifying qualified candidates.

The next steps will be to seat and charge a search committee. The position will be advertised in the Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed, among other publications, and on the search website at https://webcomm.nmsu.edu/hire/.

Parker has asked for feedback from faculty and staff throughout the campus community to identify and nominate qualified applicants. Nominations can be submitted online at search website, or by writing to Cifuentes at VPSearch@nmsu.edu.

The new Vice Provost will be responsible for the leadership, administrative oversight, and coordination of all aspects of online and digital education initiatives occurring throughout the NMSU System, including all campuses, thereby playing an integral role in shaping NMSU’s future by achieving strategic goals set out in NMSU LEADS 2025 (http://nmsu.edu/LEADS), which fosters both student success and social mobility, and extension and outreach.

“The Vice Provost for Digital Learning Initiatives will maximize student enrollment and retention by ensuring NMSU provides innovative educational experiences that enhance the university’s reputation, visibility and reach to further strengthen the NMSU system,” Parker said.

This is a new position.
