Notice of NMSU Regents meetings, potential quorum for Oct. 23-25

The New Mexico State University Board of Regents will hold the following meetings Oct. 23 and Oct. 24:

  • The NMSU Board of Regents will hold a closed meeting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Hadley Hall, Room 130, 2850 Weddell St., on the Las Cruces campus. 
The closed meeting is being called to discuss the incentive compensation and evaluation for Chancellor Dan Arvizu and President John Floros as permitted under the personnel matters exemption the New Mexico Open Meetings Act, NMSA Section 10-15-1, subsection (H)(2). The existing chancellor and president agreements form the basis for that compensation and evaluation discussion in the closed meeting.

In addition, the Regents will discuss the board’s personnel plans for the board staff position as permitted by NMSA Section 10-15-1, subsection (H)(2) of the Open Meetings Act.

  • The NMSU Board of Regents will hold a special work session meeting from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Educational Services Building, Room 8, 1780 E. University Ave., on the Las Cruces Campus. No votes or other official actions will be taken by the NMSU Board of Regents the work session.
  • The NMSU Board of Regents will hold a special meeting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Regents Room of the Educational Services Building,1780 E. University Ave., on the Las Cruces campus. In accordance with the New Mexico Open Meetings Act, this meeting is open to the public.
  • The NMSU Board of Regents also will hold another special work session meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in Corbett Center Student Union, East Ballroom, 1600 International Mall, on the Las Cruces campus. No votes or other official actions will be taken by the NMSU Board of Regents the work session.
In compliance with the Open Meetings Act, copies of the agenda will be made available at NMSU’s Zuhl Library on the Las Cruces campus at least 72 hours prior to the meeting and will be accessible on the public university website at https://regents.nmsu.edu/agenda/.

A potential quorum of the NMSU Board of Regents may occur as regents may attend the following social events from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25:

Wednesday, Oct. 23:
  • Honors College lunch, noon-1 p.m., William B. Conroy Honors College, Room 8, 1780 E. University Ave., on the Las Cruces campus.
Thursday, Oct. 24:
  • Lunch with NMSU leadership, noon -1 p.m., Taos Restaurant, Corbett Center Student Union, on the Las Cruces campus.
  • Tree planting and bench dedication ceremony, 1:30-2 p.m., Regents Grove (east of Corbet Center Student Union), on the Las Cruces campus
  • School of Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management International Dinner, 6-8:30 p.m., 100 West Café, Gerald Thomas Hall, 940 College Drive, one the Las Cruces campus
Friday, Oct. 25:
  • NMSU Employee Appreciation Picnic, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Preciado Park (south of O’Donnell Hall), Gregg Street, on the Las Cruces campus.
No votes or other official actions will be taken by the NMSU Board of Regents
