NMSU PGA Golf Management Program welcomes prospective students to Visitors Weekend
The PGA Golf Management Program at New Mexico State University will host its annual Visitors Weekend Oct. 12-13, giving prospective students and their families a taste of Aggie life.
“This on-campus event spans a weekend to pack in as much fun and information as two days can hold, including a golf tournament,” said Henry Stetina, program coordinator for NMSU’s PGA Golf Management Program.
The program leads to a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in marketing and a specialization in golf management. It is one of a limited number of programs in the nation that is fully accredited and endorsed by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America.
The Visitors Weekend kicks off Saturday, Oct. 12, at the NMSU Golf Course, 3000 Herb Wimberly Drive. The golf tournament will start at 8:30 a.m.; driving lanes will open at 7:30 a.m. Out-of-town students and their families are encouraged arrive in Las Cruces by Friday, Oct. 11.
“Students and their families will be paired with current students for the tournament so that an accurate picture of life at NMSU can be gained,” Stetina said.
After the tournament, students and their families will lunch inside the golf course at 1 p.m. A presentation by the PGA Golf Management staff will follow lunch.
Activities will continue at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, with a continental breakfast served at the College of Business, housed in the Business Complex on the NMSU campus. A tour of the PGA Golf Management Program facilities will follow breakfast.
After the tour, PGA faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions from students and their families. The cost for the entire weekend is $50 per person.
“It’s never too late to take a family trip, and it’s never too early for students to start thinking about their future,” Stetina said. “Guests of PGA Golf Management Program will do both, as well as play in a golf tournament in the shadow of the Organ Mountains during this weekend. If you are looking to turn your passion for golf into a career, or know someone who is, RSVP now for this informative weekend.”
