NMSU Board of Regents to meet Sept. 4

The New Mexico State University Board of Regents will have a working lunch, a closed session and a potential quorum Wednesday, Sept. 4.


A potential quorum of the Board of Regents may occur as regents may attend a tree planting ceremony recognizing the past service of Jerean Camuñez Hutchinson and Christopher Saucedo as members of the Board of Regents. The ceremony will start at 8 a.m. located on the NMSU Las Cruces campus, Regents Grove (west of the Educational Services Building) 1780 E. University Ave., Las Cruces.

No votes or other official actions will be taken by the Board of Regents.

The Board of Regents will hold a working lunch at noon in the 100 West Café, Gerald Thomas Hall, NMSU Las Cruces campus, 940 College Drive, Las Cruces.

No votes or other official actions will be taken by the Board of Regents during the work session.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
1. Call to Order and Welcome – Chairwoman Dina Chacón-Reitzel
2. The New Mexico State University System – Chancellor Dan Arvizu
3. A Brief History of the Land-Grant University – President John Floros
4. About the New Mexico Department of Agriculture – Secretary of Agriculture and Director Jeff Witte, Deputy Secretary Anthony Parra, Division Director Brad Lewis
5. About the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences – Dean Rolando Flores, Associate Dean Natalie Goldberg, Associate Dean and Director Jon Boren

Later in the day, the Board of Regents will hold a closed executive session meeting at 3 p.m. in Gerald Thomas Hall, Room 297 on the Las Cruces campus, 940 College Drive, Las Cruces. The closed executive session meeting will be held to discuss limited personnel matters and pending litigation, in accordance with NMSA Section 10-15-1 H(2) and (7) of the New Mexico Open Meetings Act. In the event the Board has not adjourned its regular meeting as of 3 p.m., the closed session will commence as soon as possible after the conclusion of the regular meeting and will take place in the Educational Services Building, Room 2.
