The New Mexico State University College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences will have its second Sustainable Agriculture Field Day from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 26 at the NMSU Fabian Garcia Science Center.

The event will feature information about the latest sustainable agriculture research with several demonstrations geared towards home gardeners, commercial growers and agriculture enthusiasts. There will be field tour presentations on many topics including chile varieties for organic growers, weed management, alternative crops for New Mexico and newly developed research on onions and Malbec grapes.

The festivities will be sponsored by the western region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program. SARE is a United States Department of Agriculture research and educational grants program that was founded in 1988. Its purpose is to provide research funding supporting agriculture that is environmentally friendly and valuable for communities.
