Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi, two of the entertainment industry’s most prolific voice over actors, will be guest workshop presenters at the 2018 Las Cruces International Film Festival presented by New Mexico State University, which runs March 7-11.

The five-day festival brings thousands of people to Las Cruces to see feature-length, short films, documentaries and student films. Last year, more than 6,000 people attended the event, with about a third coming from outside the immediate area.

Rial and Marchi will give a voice over workshop and will also serve as panelists at the festival’s "Diversity & Inclusion in Entertainment" presentation. Rial, actress and director, is best known for her trademark shrill voices and has been heard often on the Cartoon Network and Adult Swim and is affiliated with Funimation and Seraphim Digital/Sentai Filmworks. Marchi, a voice actress and automatic dialog replacement writer and director, has voiced more than 300 characters. She has provided voices for a number of English-language versions of Japanese animae and video games.

“We know the workshop and panel discussion with Jamie and Monica will be an fantastic experience for our students and the greater community,” said Ross Marks, executive director of the festival and assistant professor at the Creative Media Institute at NMSU. “This year’s festival has an exciting line up of stars, films and workshops as well as panel discussions.”

A Houston native, Rial is best known as Bulma from the “Dragon Ball” series. She has been working in the anime industry for almost 20 years and she is currently listed as the most prolific anime voice actor in the United States. She has lent her voice to more than 500 anime.

Marchi is the voice of Ellie from “Borderlands II,” The Witchblade from “Witchblade” and Panty from “Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt.”
