BARNES AND NOBLE OPEN MIC NIGHTS

Barnes & Noble at NMSU will continue the popular Open Mic performances from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays. To sign up to perform, contact bncafe@nmsu.edu.

Open Mic is free of charge and open to the public. Free parking is available in designated spaces. Barnes & Noble at NMSU is located at 1400 E. University Ave. For more information, call 575-646-5822.

UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY TO HOST EVENTS

The University Art Gallery at NMSU will host two events on Saturday, Dec. 7. From 1-2 p.m., students in NMSU's Museum Conservation Program will speak about their work on the gallery's large historic collection of 19th century Mexican retablos, which are currently on view in the exhibition "Conserving Tradition: Caring for the NMSU Retablo Collection." From 3-4 p.m., the New Desert Harmony Singers will perform Christmas carols and classic holiday tunes in the gallery. The ensemble has requested that attendees of this event bring a canned food item as a donation.

Both programs are free and open to the public.

The University Art Gallery at NMSU is located in D.W. Williams Hall, near the intersection of University and Solano avenues. Free parking on campus is available on weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.

NMSU THEATRE ARTS PRESENTS 'A CHRISTMAS CAROL'

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, the American Southwest Theatre Company will present the musical rendition of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," as adapted by Tom Smith, director of the NMSU Department of Theatre Arts, with music by Roger Butterley.
