McKinley County Extension to host holiday craft showcase
GALLUP, N.M. - "A Completely Crafty Christmas" is the theme for the holiday craft showcase hosted by New Mexico State University's McKinley County Cooperative Extension Service from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Jim Harlin Community Pantry, 1130 Hassler Valley Road, Gallup.
"Come and get a head start on your Christmas gift giving by creating some fabulous take-home holiday crafts," said Elena Bowers, McKinley County Extension home economist. She said the event was quite successful last year. "Nothing says love and thoughtfulness like a handmade gift. Participants will leave with a minimum of three ready-to-give gifts."
Home economists from Bernalillo, Cibola, Sandoval, Torrance and McKinley counties will lead a variety of craft activities, including upcycled wine cork ornaments, decorating with miniature Christmas trees, quilled Christmas cards, Mod Podge light switch cover, beaded wire art ornaments, decorated chargers and serving trays and magnet gift set.
A participant fee of $10 will cover the costs of all materials, hot cocoa bar and refreshment and a booklet of all crafts and recipes to take home. RSVP to participate by calling 505-863-3432.
