For the fourth year in a row, New Mexico State University has been honored as a top university for awarding degrees to Hispanic students.

Diverse: Issues in Higher Education publishes annual rankings of the Top 100 producers of associate, bachelor's and graduate degrees issued to minority students. The top 50 Hispanic bachelor's and master's degree awarding schools were featured in the Sept. 26 edition.

NMSU was 11th in bachelor's degrees awarded in education to Hispanics. Additionally, NMSU ranked 18th in bachelor's degrees in engineering and 30th in bachelor's in business management, marketing and related support services to Hispanics.

In master's degrees awarded to Hispanics, NMSU was 12th in engineering, while social sciences and education followed in 27th and 35th, respectively.

"NMSU's leadership, faculty and staff are very committed to increasing access and opportunity and enhancing diversity in the academic community, and I believe that our efforts are successful," said College of Engineering Dean Ricardo B. Jacquez. "I'm especially proud of the progress that has been made in the College of Engineering, where increasing minority representation is a particular challenge. More than half of our students are underrepresented ethnic minorities and women, and they make significant contributions toward our nation's dire need for engineers."

This report used data obtained through the National Center for Education Statistics' Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Set (IPEDS). Analysis is based on degrees conferred during the 2011-2012 academic year.
