BARNES AND NOBLE OPEN MIC NIGHTS


Barnes & Noble at NMSU will continue the popular Open Mic performances from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays. To sign up to perform, contact bncafe@nmsu.edu.

AMERICAN SOUTHWEST THEATRE COMPANY TO HOLD AUDITIONS

American Southwest Theatre Company will be holding auditions for its fall productions 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at NMSU's Center for the Arts. To schedule an audition time call 575-646-5122.

NMSU DANCE PROGRAM TO HOLD AUDITIONS

The NMSU Dance program will hold auditions for the NMSU Contemporary Dance Theater and the DanceSport Company from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at the NMSU Activity Center. Auditions for the Contemporary Dance Theater will be held in AC 228 and auditions for DanceSport will be held in AC 229.

NMSU THEATRE ARTS PRESENTS 'PROPERTIES OF LIGHT'

NMSU Theatre Arts presents a free workshop performance of 'Properties of Light' at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at NMSU's Center for the Arts.

"Properties of Light" was written by novelist Rebecca Goldstein and adapted for the stage by William Storm, NMSU Theatre Arts professor. The play focuses on the relationship between theoretical physicist Samuel Mallach, his daughter Dana and Justin Childs, a brilliant young mathematician. While attempting to solve contradictions in the two foremost theories of modern physics, the three resolve a fundamental problem of time itself.

ATKINSON HALL HOSTS VOCAL EVENTS

Amanda Penaloza will present her senior vocal recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Atkinson Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

WWE LIVE RETURNS TO NMSU

WWE Live returns to NMSU's Pan American Center at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 24. This year's card includes WWE superstars Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Rob Van Dam, Big E Langston, Curtis Axel, Ryback, The Miz and WWE divas AJ Lee and Kaitlyn.

UNIVERSITY ART GALLERY OPENING RECEPTION

The University Art Gallery will host an opening reception for their first fall exhibitions 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, in D. W. Williams Hall.

The exhibitions "Tierra Caliente: A Photographic Essay of Cuba by Patrick Glaize," "Social Photography from the Permanent Collection" and "German Op Art Ceramics, 1955-1975." will be on display until Sept. 28. Glaize will be in attendance and light refreshments will be served.

RASCAL FLATS 'LIVE AND LOUD' TOUR COMES TO PAN AM

American country music band Rascal Flats will perform live with The Band Perry and this year's winner of NBC's "The Voice," Cassadee Pope at NMSU's Pan American Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.

Rascal Flatts has had 14 singles at the top of the country music charts and will perform some older hits as well as new music from their No. 1 eighth studio album, "Changed."

NMSU Volleyball will kick off the season with their scrimmage game against NMSU Alumni at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the NMSU Recreation Center.

NMSU Soccer will face University of New Mexico at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at the NMSU Soccer Field.
