NMSU hosts Half Day of College program at Corona research center
CORONA - New Mexico State University will host its sixth Half Day of College program at the Corona Range and Livestock Research Center Wednesday, July 17. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
The free program will begin at 9:30 a.m. with introductions and a brief update on the Southwest Center for Rangeland Sustainability.
"This year we will focus on living in a rural environment, with experts on hand to present information and answer questions," said Shad Cox, superintendent of the center. "We will hold concurrent seminars to facilitate small group sizes and to give you the choice of attending what you want, when you want."
The three concurrent sessions, at 10 and 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. will be:
• Rangeland Insects: Around the Home and Pasture, presented by Carol Sutherland, NMSU Extension entomologist.
• Managing Horses in Rural New Mexico, presented by Jason Turner, NMSU Extension equine specialist.
• Gardening in Central New Mexico Highlands, presented by Stephanie Walker, NMSU Extension vegetable specialist.
Lunch will be provided at noon.
"There will be plenty of time to visit with neighbors, specialists and research staff," Cox said. "Come join us for an educational and informative day at Corona."
The center is located two miles north of Corona on US 54. At the NMSU sign turn east on Torrance County Road 20 and travel 8 miles to the ranch entrance, then turn right and follow signs to the SWCRS.
