On Saturday, Feb. 2, New Mexico State University's Kinesiology Club will host a New Beginnings Race to encourage healthy lifestyles and raise money for future club-sponsored events.

The purpose of the Kinesiology Club is to promote a lifetime of fitness within the community and throughout the NMSU campus. The students created the race to encourage fitness goals for the new year.

"This will be the third annual New Beginnings Race," Tony McClary, activities coordinator for the Kinesiology Club, said. "We are using it as a fundraiser in order to host future events that will help us promote physical fitness in the community and throughout Las Cruces."

The event will feature a 5K run and a one mile "fun walk" through the NMSU campus, beginning and ending in the student tailgating lot, located on the east side of Aggie Memorial Stadium.

Event registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the northwest corner of the student tailgating lot. Fees are $15 for the 5K run and $10 for the fun walk. Both events will begin at 10 a.m.

There will be water stations at the finish line and snacks will be available at the registration desk and finish line. Kinesiology Club T-shirts will be sold at the registration desk.
