The New Mexico State University Department of Communication Studies will host a debate watch for the upcoming presidential debate. The event is open to the general public and will take place from 6:30-9 p.m. Oct. 16 on the second floor of Corbett Center in the Colfax Room. Seating is limited.

The debate watch is co-hosted by the NMSU Communication Studies Graduate Students Association and the Undergraduate Communication Studies Club.

"Debate Watch provides a way for voters to learn more about the presidential candidates and issues by watching the debates and discussing them with other voters," said Kenneth Hacker, professor of communication studies. "Formal debate watches were created by the National Communication Association and provided data to the Commission on Presidential Debates regarding what voters like about the debates and what they would like to be changed."

This will also be an opportunity for students to voter perceptions as well as allowing individuals who attend a chance to share their views.

For more information about the debate watch contact Hacker at 575-646-4839 or comstudy@nmsu.edu.
