NMSU Homecoming 2012 celebrates Aggie pride

New Mexico State University alumni and students will be treated to a number of events while they celebrate Homecoming 2012. This year's theme is "Culture of Aggie Pride" and the Aggie community will have plenty of opportunities to show it.

Homecoming events kick off with the "ASNMSU Car Smash" held between Hardman and Guthrie Hall at noon Monday, Oct. 22.

The ASNMSU "Movie on the Green" will be held at Aggie Memorial Stadium at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, featuring the summer blockbuster "The Dark Knight Rises" starring Christian Bale.

At noon Wednesday, Oct. 24, the ASNMSU student organization door display contest will be held in the Corbett Center Student Union.

The College of Health and Social Services will hold its Distinguished Alumni reception at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the NMSU Golf Course Clubhouse.

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences door decorating and pumpkin carving contest will start at 2 p.m. Oct. 25 at Gerald Thomas Hall, Skeen Hall and Neale Hall.

The class of 1952 will have their reunion dinner Oct. 25. The class of 1962 will hold their reunion dinner at the same time.

There will be a bonfire, pep rally and concert by musical group Switchfoot at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at the tailgate lot, south of soccer field and east of Aggie Memorial Stadium.

In keeping up with this year's theme of "Culture of Aggie Pride," all members of the Aggie community are asked to wear crimson Friday, Oct. 26, to show their Aggie Pride.

The College or Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences will hold their "Alumni, Emeritus and Donor Recognition Breakfast" at 8 a.m. Oct. 26 in a tent by the windmill in front of Gerald Thomas Hall.

Campus tours with University Admissions will be given at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Oct. 26. Those interested will meet at the Alumni and Visitor Center where they will ride golf carts around campus to see what's new.

The College of Engineering will name two of their facilities at 10 a.m. Oct. 26. The first will be the Donnell and JoAnn Smith Digital Signal Processing Laboratory located at Goddard Annex Room 132. The second will be the J. Eldon Steelman Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Head Office located at Thomas and Brown Hall Room 108.

The College of Business "Alumni Mixer and Distinguished Alumni Reception" will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at Traders Plaza located outside the Business Complex.

The College of Education will hold a Distinguished Alumni reception at 3 p.m. Oct. 26 in the O'Donnell Hall Atrium.

The College of Engineering will hold an alumni recognition and reception at 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Engineering Clock of Dreams in front of the Ed and Harold Foreman Engineering Complex.

The College of Arts and Sciences will hold a Distinguished Alumni Reception at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Alumni Center Courtyard.

The NMSU Alumni Association will hold a Distinguished Alumni dinner to honor outstanding service in their field at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 in the third floor west ballroom of Corbett Center.

A new event to Homecoming, the "Celebration of Traditions" at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Memorial Tower will be a special tribute to former students who gave their lives in defense of the U.S.

A parade viewing party will be held at 9:45 a.m. Oct. 27 at the NMSU Barnes & Noble Bookstore Patio. Alumni will have a chance to enjoy a beverage while mingling with fellow alumni.

The Homecoming parade will start at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 on University Avenue and will begin at the Pan American Center and follow University Avenue, ending at Knox Street.

Aggies who have celebrated more than 50 years since graduation are invited to attend the "Golden A's Luncheon" at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 27.

Student Homecoming tailgate will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at Lot 34 across from Aggie Memorial Stadium.

The College of Education "Past and Present Tailgate" will start at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 27.

The Alumni and Friends Tailgate Party will be at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the northeast entrance of Aggie Memorial Stadium. Complimentary tickets provided to the first 400 guest who RSVP.

The final event of Homecoming will be the football game at 6 p.m. where the NMSU Aggies will take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The Homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime.
