Chevron donates $250,000 to establish professorship at NMSU's Domenici Institute
"Chevron is very proud to be one of the leading producers of energy in New Mexico, the United States and around the world," said Mitch Mamoulides, Permian South area manager for Chevron North America. "We are very impressed with the work being done by the Domenici Institute. Energy is a platform for economic growth and improves the quality of life of people around the globe. This endowment for the Chevron Professorship honors Senator Domenici's service and his commitment to the state of New Mexico and our country."
NMSU's Domenici Institute is named for retired U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici, New Mexico's longest-serving senator. Its goal is to engage the public and encourage discussion of important policy matters. The income from the endowment will be used to facilitate program activities in the priority areas of the Domenici Institute.
"Generous gifts like these from our friends and partners in the business world help to ensure that New Mexico State University continues to attract top-of-the-line faculty members and continues to produce graduates who are able to compete with any others from around the country," said Garrey Carruthers, dean of NMSU's College of Business and Domenici Institute director.
In addition to the Chevron Professorship, the NMSU College of Business has five other endowed professorships, including the Lionel Haight Professorship, the Robert O. Anderson Distinguished Professorship, the Bank of America Professorship, the John P. Loveland Professorship in Quality Management and the Wells Fargo Professorship.
