Las Crucen Kari Mitchell appointed NMSU Regent
"We are proud to welcome Kari to the Board of Regents," said Mike Cheney, chair of the NMSU Board of Regents. "New Mexico State University is the state's only land-grant university and a leader in research, service and education. Kari is a dynamic leader who will be an asset to our university and I'm confident her experience will enhance the effectiveness of the board."
Mitchell is a member of NMSU's Town-Gown Commission, which aims to strengthen ties between the university and the community. She is past chair of the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance and was a founding board member of the New Mexico Economic Development Partnership. She holds an MBA from the University of Houston-Clear Lake as well as a bachelor's in marketing and management from Adams State College.
"I'm honored by this opportunity to serve our community and NMSU in this capacity," Mitchell said. "I'm humbled by Governor Martinez's confidence in appointing me; and share her passions regarding educational opportunities in New Mexico. I look forward to working with the distinguished Board of Regents, President Barbara Couture and her leadership team. It will be a pleasure to work alongside these individuals to continue the excellence the university has obtained while ensuring a high return on educational investment through graduate outcomes, and focusing on the employability of our students."
